What documents do I need to open a Mini Account?
Children younger than 14 will need a photocopy of their ID card, or Tax ID number issued by the Tax Agency. This document is used to identify the minor until he/she reaches the age of 14, after which the ID card will be needed. In either case, the family book (libro de familia) will also be necessary.
Can I open a Mini account for a child if he/she is not my child?
You can only open it if you are the child's legal guardian.
What happens to the Mini account when the child turns 18?
The account will automatically become a Youth account, with the same account number and the same features. You will not have to change direct debits. All you'll need to do is sign to give consent and ask for the remote banking passwords that you (as an adult) will use to access these services.
Do I have to pay bills by direct debit?
No, you don't have to, though you can if you want to, as long as the bill has some connection to the child's expenses.
Can a minor have a debit card?
Minors cannot be debit card holders except if they are emancipated (from age 16). However, parents or legal guardians may ask for a beneficiary card based on theirs, and may set limits on the use of it.
