When you open your account from the web, you will be assigned one or the other, depending on your personal characteristics.

All national and intra-EU transfers that you make in euros and through the website have no fees. You will not pay any fees for paying cheques into your account either.

Multichannel access to your account

As well as at our branches you can conduct enquiries and transactions on the website, on your phone or via telephone banking, which is just as secure but a lot faster.

Alert service

A service that allows you to receive alerts on your mobile or by e-mail about activity in your account. You can tell us when you want us to notify you: income, debit, amount...

And the conditions? These are as follows:

  • Deposit your pension in the 5% Pension Account

    A pension of at least €800 which is consistently deposited. It can be by transfer or by check, not in cash and not from the account holder themselves, and we do accept pension amounts.

  • Make three charges per deposit per quarter

    It is not required that they be different issuers, nor that they occur during the same month. It can be one deposit every month or, for example, three deposits in a single month and then none for the next two months.

  • Do not delay in depositing your pension

    Once you open your Pension Account, you must make the first pension deposit within three months. When that time has elapsed, if you have not made the agreed deposit, then you will lose all of the 5% Pension Account benefits.

Who can open a 5% Pension Account?

Customers and new customers who do not currently have their pension at Bankinter and who are not Bankinter Group employees or agents.
You must be an individual living in Spain and you cannot have held any of our interest-bearing accounts in the 12 months before opening the account.
The same customer can only be the owner of one interest-bearing account and two bonus current accounts, for example, any that do not have a maintenance fee or that have cards with special conditions associated with them.

Para abrir y disfrutar de la rentabilidad de la Cuenta Pensión es necesario:

  • Ser una persona física y residir en España.
  • Ser nuevo cliente, o si ya eres cliente: No haber recibido remuneración ni haber sido titular de una Cuenta Nómina/Pensión/Profesional/No Nómina/Nómina Joven durante el último año.
  • Ingresar en tu Cuenta Pensión una suma mínima de 800€, en concepto de pensión
  • Domiciliar al menos tres recibos al trimestre de distintos emisores (aceptamos cualquier recibo: gimnasio, alquiler, colegio, luz, gas…)

If you cancel the Salary, Pension, Business, Non-Salary or Youth Salary account, the accounts will no longer be treated as bonus accounts. You also need to continue to meet the requirements of the Salary, Pension, Business, Non-Salary or Youth Salary account at all times.

The payment will be made automatically every six months from the date you open the account. Remember, the maximum interest-bearing balance is €10,000€ and you will get 5% AER the first year and 2% AER the second year.

Opening an account is simple and 100% online. There's no paperwork involved and you can do it wherever suits you best.

  • Select the number of account holders and, depending on the number indicated, you will continue the process through the Bankinter website or app.
  • Provide information about yourself: personal and employment details.
  • Verify your identity through video identification.
  • Choose the type of account you want to open.
  • Digitally sign the contract and you're done! You now have an account with Bankinter. All that remains is to create a password so you can start performing transactions.

If you have to interrupt the process for any reason, you can resume it whenever you want.

And if you change your mind, you will have 14 days (from signature of the contract) to exercise your right of withdrawal. Simply let us know by phone or email, or by visiting a branch.

To start opening your new account online, you will need the following:

  • Your valid ID card
  • A Spanish mobile phone number (+34)
  • A mobile device with a camera (for video identification)
  • A copy of your last pension slip

The process is online and you can do it whenever and wherever you want. And remember, you don't need to complete the process in one go. As long as you have completed step 1 (which generates your username and password), you can exit the process and return to it later.

Yes, if the requirements for both accounts are met. Remember, you will have to state who is the depositor of the Pension account, and you are only allowed to be the depositor of one account.

Customers may only hold one interest-bearing account and a maximum of two fee-free current accounts: for example, a Pension account (bearing interest) + a Non-Salary account (no interest); or two Pension accounts (one bearing interest).

This limit also applies to any other interest-bearing account, fee-free account or account with special conditions that Bankinter may offer in the future.

Yes, there can be two account holders as long as at least one of them has their pension deposited into the account. In order for both account holders to be able to access the benefits of the account, it is necessary to meet the account's specific requirements: direct deposit of a salary of €800 or more, 3 direct debit bill payments per quarter and keep the card active by making at least 3 transactions per quarter.

Yes, you'll qualify for interest if you come back to Bankinter and open a new Salary/Pension/Business/Non-Salary/Youth Salary account.

When you open your Pension account online, you will be assigned a debit card or a credit card, depending on your personal characteristics.

Your account will yield interest in the first two years. After that, you won't get interest anymore but you will still get all the other benefits of the Salary Account. You'll keep your free card and the two additional current accounts included in the promotion, which you can open for free and add whoever you want as joint holder. We'll continue to waive fees for maintenance, cash withdrawals from our ATM network and debit transfers in Spain and the EU, so you'll still save around €70 per year.
