Where can I order a chequebook?


You can order a chequebook at a Bankinter branch or through telephone banking by calling 91 657 8800.

You can't order one through the app or website.

How much does it cost to request a chequebook?


Chequebooks are issued crossed and are free of charge. These types of chequebooks can only be used to deposit funds in an account. They can't be cashed.

Can I order an uncrossed chequebook?


There is a fee for uncrossed chequebooks, which varies according to the number of cheques. Two euros per check. so a chequebook with 20 cheques costs €40.

What is the delivery time?


Normal delivery time is 10 days for individuals (sent via national mail to your home address) and 4 days for corporates (sent via internal mail to your office).

Can I order a bank cheque?


Yes, you can order a bank cheque through telephone banking or at your branch.

When will the cheque be available at the branch after I request it?


Immediately.

If I deposit a cheque in my account, when will I have access to the funds?


Cheques deposited in your account will clear in 2 business days, but keep in mind that the accounting date will be 3 days later. This means that even it appears as credited to your account, the funds will not be available until the third day.

What are the fees for depositing, returning or issuing a cheque?


  • Deposits:
  • If you have a Salary Account or are a customer of the Digital Organisation, there is no fee for depositing cheques.
  • In all other cases, the fee is 0.60% of the cheque amount, with a minimum of €0.60.
  • Returns:
  • If it is a Bankinter cheque, the fee is 0.10% of the cheque amount with a minimum of €3.01 plus €0.82 for postage costs.
  • If the cheque is a from a bank other than Bankinter but located in the same town/city as the Bankinter branch where you are depositing it, the fee is 0.20 % of the cheque amount with a minimum of €3.01 plus €0.82 for postage costs.
  • If the cheque is a from a bank other than Bankinter and is located in a different town/city from the Bankinter branch where you are depositing it, the fee is 0.40 % with a minimum of €4.51 plus €0.82 for postage costs.
  • Issues:
  • Bank cheque: 0.125% of the cheque amount with a minimum of €1.50.
  • Certified cheque: 0.10% of the cheque amount with a minimum of €3.61.

Do I need to provide proof of identity to cash a cheque?


Yes, you can order a bank cheque through telephone banking or at your branch.

  • In the case of a bearer cheque, you will have to prove your identity if the amount is €1,000 or more.
  • In the case of an order cheque, you will always need to prove your identity, regardless of the amount.
