What is a cash deposit at an ATM?

It's a way to deposit banknotes into an account via an ATM, without having to visit a teller.

What type of banknotes can I deposit?

ATMs can accept €5, €10, €20, €50 and €100 banknotes.

Can I deposit coins?

No. This service only accepts banknotes; coins cannot be deposited at ATMs.

What is the maximum amount that can be deposited at an ATM?

  • If you are a customer, up to €3,000 per transaction and up to €15,000 in total over the last 30 days.
  • And if you are not a customer, the maximum is €995 per transaction and €995 in total over the last 30 days.

What if I exceed the limit?

The ATM will notify you and will not allow you to continue the transaction with that amount. Try a smaller amount.

Can I make a deposit without a card?

Yes. Use the IBAN option, indicate the name of the person making the deposit and, if you wish, a description. For this option, you don't need to be a Bankinter customer.

Which account is the deposit made to?

  • If you use your Bankinter card, the deposit is made to the account associated with the card.
  • If you make the deposit by entering the account's IBAN, the amount is credited to that account.

When will the deposit appear in the account?

The deposit is online; it is usually credited to the account as soon as the transaction is completed.

  • Insert your card or tap it on the contactless reader and, on the ATM main screen, select the option “Deposit cash into your Bankinter account”.
  • If you wish, you may enter a reference; this is optional.
  • Insert all the banknotes at once, horizontally.
  • The ATM will display the amount you have entered. If it is correct, press accept. If not, press cancel and make sure you have placed the banknotes horizontally and that they are not folded, torn or badly worn.
  • Enter your card PIN.
  • Finally, collect your transaction receipt.

  • If you are not a customer or wish to deposit money into an account different from the one linked to your card, on the main screen choose “Operate without a card” and then select “Deposit money”.
  • Enter the IBAN of the destination account and indicate the payer and, if you wish, a reference.
  • Enter the amount you wish to deposit and insert all the banknotes at once, horizontally. The ATM will display the amount you have entered. If it is correct, press accept. What should I do if a banknote is returned?

Check that it is not folded, torn or badly worn. You can try again or use another banknote.

Are all banknotes always accepted?

Not always. The ATM checks the banknotes and may reject those it cannot read properly.

Where can I view it later?

The transaction can be viewed in your account. The PDF receipt is available online the next day.

What happens if the ATM keeps a banknote?

Follow the on-screen instructions and keep the receipt. The Bank will review the transaction.
