Bankinter, one of the best companies in the world in terms of sustainable growth, according to TIME magazine
The ranking of the "World’s Best Companies in Sustainable Growth 2025" recognises 500 corporates from around the world that combine solid financial growth and commitment to environmental sustainability.
Bankinter achieves new recognition in its sustainability strategy. On this occasion, the bank obtained a prominent position in the ranking of the "World's Best Companies in Sustainable Growth 2025", prepared by the prestigious TIME magazine and the market research company Statista for the first time. This ranking recognises 500 companies worldwide that combine solid financial growth with a genuine commitment to environmental sustainability.
The ranking methodology is based on three main dimensions:
- Revenue growth: The company's revenue compound year-over-year growth (CAGR) is assessed from 2021 to 2023, both in absolute terms and in comparison to the industry average.
- Financial stability: Established financial metrics such as the Piotroski F-Score, the Altman Z-Score and long-term profitability are used to determine the financial health of the company.
- Environmental impact: Key environmental performance indicators such as carbon emissions (Scope 1, 2 and 3), energy and water use and waste management are analysed.
All in all, the main aim is to recognise the companies that have demonstrated strong long-term growth and, at the same time, an environmentally sustainable performance, thus demonstrating that sustainability can go hand-in-hand with growth.
The scores of the three dimensions are combined to form a final score out of 100 points. Bankinter obtained a score of 75.59 points, which places it in 318th place in the world ranking.
This achievement reflects the bank's commitment to sustainable growth, as described in its Sustainability Plan 2024-2026, which establishes three strategic pillars:
- Responsible action: Addresses issues such as corporate governance, ethics and transparency, human rights and the supply chain.
- Differentiation: Focuses on customer relations, people management, sustainable innovation and relations with the local community.
- Sustainable business: Addresses issues such as climate change, natural capital, cybersecurity and sustainable finance.
This is not the first time that TIME magazine has recognised Bankinter as one of the most sustainable companies in the world. Bankinter is also part of the most prestigious global sustainability indexes, such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World, FTS4Good and MSCI, following a track record of various sustainability plans and actions implemented for more than 15 years. Sustainability is a firm strategic commitment of the bank and is applied through a cross-cutting policy, in which many of the bank's areas are involved.
