According to the ESG ranking of the prestigious magazine "Time", Bankinter is among the most sustainable companies in the world.
Likewise, Bankinter ranks in the top 10 Spanish companies with the best performance.
The ranking has analysed more than 500 companies from over 30 countries.
American news magazine Time ranks Bankinter among the most sustainable companies in the world in the ranking prepared in collaboration with Statista, an independent market research company. To do so, they assessed over 500 companies from more than thirty different countries.
Bankinter is the first Spanish bank on the list, and is also listed as the tenth company in Spain with the best sustainability performance, along with other Spanish companies in the telecommunications, textile distribution, technology, energy and banking sectors.
The bank was ranked 195 in this international ranking of the most sustainable corporates. The companies have been assessed according to over 20 significant sustainability parameters, such as carbon emissions, commitment to their emission reduction goals or compliance with international reporting standards, among others. It should be noted that Bankinter's direct activities are carbon neutral since 2020 and the bank has defined a roadmap to turn its financing portfolio into a carbon neutral one, i.e., its Scope 3 emissions.
Likewise, the companies on the list are members of partnerships and climate action programmes that aim to limit global warming to 1.5ºC. In addition, specific climate ratings have been taken into account, such as CDP, which analyses the implications of climate change for companies around the world. According to the methodology explained in the ranking, a series of indicators related to gender diversity or external employee rotation have also been assessed, including the incorporation of sustainability in business models.
Firm strategic commitment
Bankinter is one of the most sustainable banks in the world, as also recognised by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World, FTS4Good and MSCI, after a history of several sustainability plans and actions rolled out for over 15 years. Sustainability is one of the bank's core strategic commitments, which is pursued with an increasingly transversal approach and is one of the matters on which most of the bank's areas are involved.
