Bankinter has decided to take a new step forward in its growth strategy for high-potential businesses by creating the Consumer Finance, Payments and New Businesses Division, which will include a Corporate Payments area that aims to lead the digital payments ecosystem.

The new general directorate will be led by Alfonso Sáez and will report directly to the Bankinter CEO, Gloria Ortiz, reinforcing the strategic importance of consumer finance and payments across the Group.

A holistic vision of consumer finance, payments and new businesses

With this decision, Bankinter establishes a single structure to group its consumer finance, payments and new business under the same management, with the aim of driving the Group's profitable growth in these areas, developing a distinctive value proposition for individuals and corporates, and accelerating innovation in payment methods and advanced digital solutions.

The new Corporate Payments area will be responsible for defining the Group's payments strategy, coordinating and aligning business initiatives in all the countries in which Bankinter operates, and developing new payment methods, including projects linked to the digital euro, stablecoins and other emerging payment instruments.

Leveraging existing capabilities and scaling innovation

The new Consumer Finance, Payments and New Businesses Division will build on existing capabilities withing the Group, particularly in the consumer finance and card business, which has been one of the drivers of Bankinter's growth in recent years.

This model will boost data-driven management and digital marketing, extend agile product design and launch processes to the rest of the Group and deepen collaboration between different business areas and the technology and data teams.

Corporate simplification and strategic focus

In line with this strategy, Bankinter Consumer Finance is likely to be fully integrated into Bankinter during the course of 2026 as part of a process of corporate simplification alignment with the new Consumer Finance, Payments and New Businesses structure.

This move will pave the way for more integrated management of the consumer finance and payments businesses, strengthening the Group's value proposition and facilitating the generation of commercial, operational and technological synergies.
Competing in the new payments ecosystem

The creation of this division and the Corporate Payments area within it puts Bankinter in an optimal position to compete on equal terms with the new generation of players in the digital payments ecosystem, combining the financial strength and service capacity of a leading bank, as well as the agility, innovation and customer focus characteristic of the most advanced digital models.

The Bank will therefore promote a winning proposition in payments, with more complete, faster and more secure solutions for individuals and corporates, both in Spain and in the international markets in which it operates.

Commitment to innovation and the long term

This initiative is part of Bankinter's vision to cement its status as one of the most innovative and dynamic banks in the European financial system, focusing on high-growth potential businesses, a strong technological base and a customer-centric culture.

In short, the creation of the Consumer Finance, Payments and New Businesses Division represents a decisive step in Bankinter's growth strategy, reinforcing its position in forward-looking businesses and preparing the Bank to successfully meet the challenges of the new financial environment.
