Bankinter confirms its position as one of the world's most sustainable banks after five years on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index

The bank has revalidated its membership of this prestigious international index, which recognises companies that best apply ESG (environmental, social and governance) criteria to their management.

Bankinter has once again renewed its membership of the global Dow Jones Sustainability Index World (DJSI), the index on which the world's most sustainable companies are listed. The bank has strengthened its position as one of the best-performing financial institutions in environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria.

This is recognition of Bankinter's efforts in the field of Sustainability and its successive achievements in its decade-old Sustainability policy.

Pedro Guerrero, Chairman of Bankinter and also Chairman of the bank's Sustainability Committee, pointed out that "the bank is proud to continue to be listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World" and stressed that "it is a boost for and is recognition of all of the entity's employees, since sustainability is already a cross-cutting area in Bankinter".

Bankinter's renewed listing on the most prestigious international sustainability index, which features 25 banks, was published last nightby S&P Dow Jones Indices after analysing a total of 179 international financial institutions.

Bankinter scored top marks in ESG product development for asset management, climate change strategy, management of climate change opportunities and risks, environmental reporting and CO2 emissions management in scopes 1, 2 and 3. It also received the highest score in other areas such as tax strategy, governance and risk culture and cybersecurity and IT security measures, in addition to financial inclusion measures and impact, customer privacy, inclusion and diversity, attracting and retaining talent and training and development, among others.

The bank will remain part of the European Dow Jones Sustainability Index, where it is ranked among the eight best banks for sustainable management. It has been included in this index since 2017.

For Bankinter, sustainability is a strategic policy, as demonstrated by its long history and its strong commitment in this field. The bank has implemented this policy through successive Sustainability plans, such as the current one, which covers the 2021-2023 period and is called 3D because it is focused on three dimensions: environmental, social and governance.
