Bankinter is one of most sustainable corporates in the world in 2025, according to TIME Magazine
-
The ranking singles out 500 corporates worldwide that demonstrate exceptional commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
For the second consecutive year, TIME Magazine has included Bankinter on its “World's Most Sustainable Companies” list, a ranking prepared by the prestigious magazine and the market research company Statista that singles out 500 corporates worldwide that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Inclusion on the list recognises the corporates' efforts to drive meaningful change and set a benchmark for corporate sustainability.
A total of 26 Spanish corporates appear in the ranking. Bankinter is ranked 251st, one of only three Spanish banks on the list.
The ranking methodology begins with a selection of more than 5,000 of the world's largest and most influential corporates. This is followed by an initial screening process to exclude corporates involved in unsustainable industries such as fossil fuels or deforestation or those that appear on negative lists related to sustainability issues.
The next step evaluates corporates based on external sustainability ratings and commitments from accredited organisations.
In the third step, the sustainability reports published by the companies are analysed to check whether they have undergone external verification and comply with international reporting standards. Various environmental and social indicators are taken into account, such as emissions, waste management, gender diversity, employee turnover, etc.
The scores of the three dimensions are combined to form a final score out of 100 points. Bankinter obtained a score of 65.05 points, placing it 251st in the world ranking.
This achievement reflects the bank's commitment to sustainable growth, as described in its Sustainability Plan 2024-2026, which establishes three strategic pillars:
- Responsible action: addresses issues such as corporate governance, ethics and transparency, human rights and the supply chain.
- Differentiation: focuses on customer relations, people management, sustainable innovation and relations with the local community.
- Sustainable business: aaddresses issues such as climate change, natural capital, cybersecurity and sustainable finance.
