Standard & Poor’s upgrades Bankinter’s rating to ‘BBB+

The rating agency improves the bank’s long-term credit rating, previously at ‘BBB’, affirming its short-term rating at ‘A-2’ and maintaining a ‘stable’ outlook.

Standard & Poor’s announced today that it has upgraded the long-term credit rating assigned to Bankinter from ‘BBB’ to ‘BBB+’. The agency also has left the bank’s short-term rating unchanged at ‘A-2’. Overall, its outlook is ‘stable’.

This ratings upgrade comes on the back of an improved sovereign credit rating for Spain due to its strong economic performance; a solid current account surplus; ongoing budgetary consolidation; and the positive performance of the Spanish banking system and Bankinter in particular.

Bankinter views its rating upgrade by Standard & Poor’s very favourably.
