Bankinter becomes the first Spanish bank to implement Microsoft's advanced generative AI for its entire workforce
The Bank is extending the adoption of advanced generative AI to its entire organisation with the deployment of Microsoft 365 Copilot for all employees in its central services and Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales for its sales teams.
GitHub Copilot will be deployed across more than 800 developer workstations to optimise software development practices and streamline delivery cycles for technology teams.
The agreement marks another step forward for Bankinter within its 'AI First' strategy, led by CEO Gloria Ortiz, and consolidates the Bank's status as one of the most proactive financial institutions in the organisation-wide adoption of generative AI, with the use of numerous AI agents.

Bankinter has teamed up with Microsoft to deploy the most advanced generative artificial intelligence for its entire workforce in Spain, implementing Microsoft 365 Copilot in all departments and reinforcing its leading position in the financial sector. Part of the corporate “AI First” strategy, the initiative promotes productivity, operational efficiency and innovation through the organisation-wide use of AI agents, with a focus on the highest levels of security, regulatory compliance and employee training.
Bankinter has teamed up with Microsoft to implement the most advanced generative AI for its entire workforce in Spain. The Bank has expanded the deployment of Microsoft 365 Copilot across all its central services. The entire sales network already uses Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales, a specific AI tool for the Bank's CRM.
Now employees in all departments will have the artificial intelligence capabilities provided by Copilot integrated into their daily activities, placing Bankinter at the forefront of the Spanish financial sector in adopting AI at scale.
As evidence of the progress already achieved, the Bank registers tens of thousands of interactions daily with Microsoft 365 Copilot and works with numerous AI agents. These agents are specialised artificial intelligence tools created by the employees themselves to support internal tasks and improve the organisation's productivity.
Bankinter has been using generative AI for more than three years through corporate systems and agents in different processes and workflows.
With a multi-technology and multi-partner approach that enables the Bank to maximise its innovation potential, dozens of organisation-wide applications and agents have already been implemented for tasks such as corporate mailbox triage, virtual assistants for employees, automatic document interpretation, report generation, orchestration of complex processes and various utilities for interacting with individuals and corporates through digital channels.
In line with this leveraging of generative AI, the alliance with Microsoft enhances efficiency and agility in software engineering processes thanks to the adoption of GitHub Copilot as a driver to improve development practices and accelerate the delivery cycles of development teams, starting with more than 800 specialised developers.

This latest step strengthens the partnership between Bankinter and Microsoft and is aimed at accelerating the adoption of generative artificial intelligence in the Bank, with a special focus on productivity, operational efficiency and growth.

The global deployment of Copilot facilitates the availability of AI tools in a corporate environment for the entire workforce and is being carried out with the utmost commitment to security, privacy and regulatory compliance. Bankinter and Microsoft are working hand in hand to ensure that its implementation conforms to internal standards and applicable data protection regulations.
As part of the agreement, Microsoft will provide strategic support in training and change management programmes to promote consistent adoption and maximise the value of the tools for employees.
