Bankinter reinforces its position as one of the most sustainable banks in the world after completing six years in the Dow Jones Sustainability index

  • The entity manages to renew its inclusion in this prestigious international index, which recognises the companies with the best performance in ESG criteria (environmental, social and governance).

Bankinter consolidates its membership in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World (DJSI), an index that groups the most sustainable companies on a global level. The bank is one of the financial institutions that best applies environmental, social and governance criteria, the so-called ESG criteria.  In short, it is an international recognition that Bankinter has managed to revalidate for the sixth consecutive year.

Pedro Guerrero, Bankinter chairman and also chairman of the bank's Sustainability Committee, has pointed out that “Bankinter remains firmly committed to contributing to the transition of the economy towards a more sustainable model” and added that “continuing to be listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index worldwide is a reinforcement and recognition of the work of all the bank's employees”.

Bankinter's renewal as a member of the most prestigious international sustainability index has been published by S & P Dow Jones Indices after analyzing a long list of financial entities from around the world.

Bankinter has obtained the highest score in the areas of transparency and reporting, customer relationship management and privacy. In addition, it stands out in other sections such as the following: Ethical management, financial inclusion, climate strategy, human rights, labor indicators and health and safety management.

In addition, the bank will also continue to be listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe, an index in which it has been included since 2017.

For Bankinter, sustainability is one of its strategic priorities and is reflected in actions that demonstrate its firm commitment in this area over more than a decade of experience. The entity has been applying successive Sustainability plans in recent years. The current “3D Plan”, which was approved in 2021 and ends this year, focuses on three dimensions: environmental, social and governance, and will give way to a new plan that will reinforce Bankinter's sustainability.
