Bankinter and COCEMFE implement a platform for the employment of women with disabilities

The bank will provide funding for a digital networking platform that will connect employers and beneficiaries of the programme

Bankinter has signed a new collaboration agreement with COCEMFE, the Spanish Confederation of Persons with Physical and Organic Disabilities, in order to create a digital networking platform with the aim of fomenting the integration of women with disabilities at risk of exclusion into the workplace. The chairman of Bankinter, Pedro Guerrero, and the chairman of COCEMFE, Mario García, signed the agreement yesterday at the headquarters of the bank, in Madrid.

By virtue of this agreement, Bankinter will fund this platform that will connect women with disabilities with more than 50 companies in order to offer them employment opportunities. Similarly, the agreement will provide a training programme in which a total of one hundred women will receive training courses regarding the use of information and communications technology (ICT), through customised itineraries that enable them to develop professional skills.

The chairman of Bankinter, Pedro Guerrero, stated that “we want to consolidate our support to COCEMFE, for its great social work. Today we have taken another step in a relationship that began in 2012 with the financial backing of the Accessibility Observatory and which, today, is backed with the support of the networking platform, which was created to facilitate the integration into society and into the workplace of women with physical and organic disabilities".

Furthermore, the chairman of COCEMFE, Mario García, thanked Bankinter for its support in the creation of this platform, because "new information communications technologies offer opportunities to enable persons with disabilities to overcome their functional limitations and thus improve their prospects of workplace integration".

Featuring among the main priorities of Bankinter is its unwavering and firm commitment to sustainability, understood as responsible management, in order to generate value for the company. The bank holds various agreements with organisations that are heavily involved in the social and workplace integration of disability collectives, in order to promote various initiatives and pay special attention to the funding of social projects of which innovation is also a differential element.

COCEMFE, the Spanish Confederation of Persons with Physical and Organic Disabilities, is an NGO that was founded in 1980. Its purpose is to unite, strengthen, train and coordinate the efforts and activities of companies that work in favour of persons with physical and organic disabilities in order to defend their rights and improve their quality of life.
