Bankinter's International Business sets a record in 2024 with €10.2 billion in lendings and 14% growth

Supply chain finance, a specialist sector in which the Bank is one of the main players in the Iberian financial system, has shot up by 80%.

Revenues from this area increased by 10.4%, reaching almost 450 million.

Bankinter achieves a new milestone in International Business. This area, which drives the international activity of the Bank's corporate customers, now exceeds 10 billion euros in terms of the average lendings balance. Specifically, it closed the year at 10.2 billion euros, up 14% on the 2023 figure.

In the space of ten years, International Business has succeeded in multiplying by five the 2 billion euros of total risks attributed to this area in 2014.

The most innovative activity within International Business is undoubtedly the supply chain finance service, through which the Bank provides its corporate customers with a credit facility to make payments to their suppliers. When requested to do so by corporates, the Bank also advances payments to suppliers. This financing model seeks to improve the working capital of both large corporations and SMEs, and is an area in which Bankinter has been a leading player for six years. This type of financing is the one that has experienced the most growth within International Business, closing 2024 with an increase of 80% on the previous year.

One of the factors that has contributed to this extraordinary growth is the digitalisation of the tools that form part of the arrangement process for this very credit facility.

More than a third of Large-Corporate Banking

Total revenues from International Business, which include the gross operating income, increased by 10.4% to reach 446 million euros. This figure represents more than a third of the revenues of the entire Large-corporate Banking area, specifically 37%. Meanwhile, of the 446 million euros of gross operating income of International Business, 117.2 million come from fees and commissions (+4.98%), which represents a third of all Large-corporate Banking fees and commission.

Another notable specialised activity within International Business is export financing, an area that has seen a 69% increase in the financing balance with coverage by export credit agencies (ECAs). Tailor-made financing does not only support exports but imports as well, with highly advanced tools forming part of the Trade Finance, Structured Finance and Export Finance solutions.

By geographical area, a significant part of International Business lending has been allocated to financing the international activity of Spanish corporates in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. In terms of priority sectors on which the Bank has focused its activity, the most important are Automotive, Technology, Food, Capital Goods and Services, Energy, Commodities and Telecommunications. The International Business figures show unprecedented performance in this activity, which will be further strengthened this year to support the progress of Spanish corporates abroad.
