Bankinter Investment and Nuveen Natural Capital launch Landa Fund, a new alternative investment vehicle focused on the agricultural sector

Bankinter's investment banking subsidiary partners with Nuveen Natural Capital, a leading global manager of farmland.

This alternative investment vehicle is now starting to be marketed to Bankinter customers.

Landa Fund is intended for investment in farmland in Spain and Portugal, a sector with real impact on the economy.

Bankinter Investment SGEIC, Bankinter's management subsidiary specialising in alternative investment, has partnered with Nuveen Natural Capital, the largest global manager of agricultural assets, to launch a new alternative investment vehicle: Landa Fund. This is a venture capital fund that will invest in the agricultural sector in the Iberian Peninsula.

Landa Fund is the first vehicle from Bankinter Investment to invest in the agricultural sector, which has considerable weight in the Spanish economy. Bankinter Investment is partnering with Nuveen Natural Capital, a 100%-owned subsidiary of the global asset manager Nuveen, which is the investment arm of TIAA, one of the world's largest institutional investors and a highly rated insurance company and retirement provider.

With the growing demand for fruit and vegetable products in the international market, and with the Iberian market being one of the leading producers and exporters at both the European and global levels, there are investment opportunities to contribute to the development, professionalisation, competitiveness and positioning of agriculture as a strategic sector in the Iberian Peninsula and Europe. This new vehicle was set up to create a diversified portfolio of crops, operators and agricultural locations in Spain and Portugal.

Landa Fund has a ten-year investment horizon and will be marketed to institutional investors and Bankinter's high-net-worth customers, under the alternative investment model Bankinter Investment created over eight years ago. This model involves partnering with expert industrial partners, with both being anchor investors during the life of the investment vehicle, aligning their interests with the interests of Bankinter's customers. The manager, Bankinter Investment SGEIC, will monitor the performance of the vehicle rigorously to ensure compliance with the investment policy promised to investors in the vehicle.
