Bankinter increases the interest rate on its Digital Account from 1.50% AER to 2.15% AER for new customers
The Bank is launching this offer for balances up to 100,000 euros, valid until 9 February.
With no requirement to deposit a salary or set up direct debits for bills, the account has no fees and there is no minimum term.
Bankinter is boosting its digital offering with the reactivation of its “Date cuenta” campaign. Today, the yield on its Digital Account increased to 2.15% AER, compared to the previous 1.50% AER. The promotion is aimed exclusively at new customers and is valid until 9 February only.
The Digital Account can only be opened on the Bankinter website and app. This is a fee-free account with no minimum term, and customers are not required to deposit a salary or set up direct debits for bills.
The account offers three interest rates depending on the customer's balance:
- For balances up to 24,999.9 euros, the interest rate is 1.85% AER.
- If the amount is between 25,000 euros and 49,999.9 euros, the rate applied is 2% AER.
- And for deposits of between 50,000 and 100,000 euros, the interest rate rises to 2.15% AER.
With this 100,000 euro limit, the Bankinter Digital Account remains one of the most competitive accounts on the market.
More advantages of the account
The Digital Account is a current account with no maintenance fees and it comes with a debit card that has no issuance or maintenance fees. Plus, it allows fee-free cash withdrawals at over 17,000 ATMs throughout Spain, thanks to Bankinter's agreements with various financial institutions.
Besides, unlike term deposits, the withdrawal of money from the account does not result in the loss of the interest rate since the product is completely liquid. Furthermore, the interest generated is paid monthly into the same account.
A range of products for attracting customers
In addition to the Digital Account, Bankinter also offers a Smart Digital Account. Within the Bank's online offering, these two accounts have the greatest potential for attracting customers.
The Smart Digital Account does require the deposit of a salary and activation of Bizum to qualify for the highest yield, which is currently 2.50% AER. If the salary deposit and Bizum requirements are not met, the interest rate payable is 2.12% AER, which is lower than that of the Digital Account. This current account has two separate but connected buckets: one for everyday use in which to maintain a balance of up to 5,000 euros without any interest; and a second one for savings that pays interest on balances up to 50,000 euros, although there is no upper limit on the balance that can be held.
