Bankinter, the first Spanish financial entity to be simultaneously certified compliant with the ISO 22301:2012 and ISO 27001:2013 standards.

The British Standards Institution (BSI) has certified Bankinter as compliant with the ISO 22301:2012 and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standards, guaranteeing that the bank operates Business Continuity Management and Information Security Management systems according to the requirements of both standards. Bankinter is the first Spanish financial entity to be awarded both certificates at the same time. The continuous evolution and validity of both certificates show that the entity focuses on offering international best practices in the management of business continuity, information security and risks.

The certificates have been awarded for the bank's processes for the "identification, authentication and signing of financial transactions and their respective electronic evidence over the Internet" at its centres in Tres Cantos and Alcobendas, both in Madrid.

The ISO 22301 guarantees a management plan that offers practical solutions to prevent possible situations that may affect the company's business. Business Continuity Management consists of proactively improving the organisation's capacity for dealing with contingencies and provides mechanisms for restoring key products and services in a limited time frame; it also protects corporate reputation.

The ISO 27001 guarantees effective information security management to ensure that the organisation's risks are correctly identified, evaluated and controlled. The Security Management System protects information assets from new threats and complies with legislative requirements.

The benefits of both standards include continuous improvement to the quality and efficiency of the certified processes, providing a consistent framework and reducing costs. They also optimise productivity and performance, improving the organisation's image as far as clients, employees and/or consumers are concerned.
