Bankinter Securities, the new brand of the bank's securities company, is born

Bankinter changes the name of Mercavalor for a brand more in line with its corporate identity and that of the rest of the Group's subsidiaries.

Bankinter Securities expands its business and seeks to increase its presence in the international institutional market.

Bankinter has launched Bankinter Securities, the new brand of its securities company, which will substitute the previous brand of Mercavalor with which the bank had been operating in this business up until now.

With this change of name, Bankinter seeks to give a new lease of life to its securities company, which is now expanding its field of activity beyond the brokerage business in national equities and the derivatives business, into international stock markets.

In order to fulfill these new responsibilities, the company, led by Javier Bollaín as Managing Director, has strengthened its team, reaching a total of 20 people, with the incorporation of a new sales team focused on international markets.

With the implementation of this new brand, Bankinter Securities, more aligned with the Group's corporate identity and that of the rest of its subsidiaries, the bank completes the consolidation process begun in December 2013 with the acquisition of 100% of Mercavalor, of which it already controlled 25.01%, after purchasing its entire share capital from the other shareholders: Banco Popular, Banco Cooperativo Español and Bankia.

According to Javier Bollaín, "with the new brand we are seeking a name that is closer to international and national investors, which they are more familiarised with, while we also provide a new boost to its commercial repositioning?. The company's Managing Director adds that: ?I am convinced that, with the new investments made and the incorporation of specialised professionals, we will be able to place ourselves in the short term among the five big operators of the sector in Spain".

The birth of Bankinter Securities opens a new era in the bank's securities business, which will lead it to have a greater presence on the foreign institutional market and which will also allow it to complete the range of services for its private banking customers, with a more global and specialised offer of services.
