Bankinter places a preferred senior debt issue for 500 million euros

The issue has been completed in just three hours and has registered an overdemand of 3.4 times its amount.

 

Bankinter has no debt maturing in 2023, but has leveraged the market opportunity to carry out the aforementioned issue under favourable conditions. 


Bankinter has successfully closed the issue of 500 million euros in seven-year preferred senior debt with the possibility of early repayment in the sixth year. In just three hours, it has achieved a demand of 1,700 million euros, which is 3.4 times.

 

The bank has placed this issue at an interest rate of midswap +120 basis points. A total of 107 institutional investors responded to the issue. 85% has been placed among international investors.

 

Bankinter, S.A., BBVA, BofA Securities, Deutsche Bank and Mediobanca have acted as managing banks for the transaction. The issue has been co-managed by Nord LB and Helaba.

Bankinter has no debt issued in previous years that is maturing this year. However, it has detected an opportunity to place an issue under advantageous market conditions.

Lastly, Bankinter has a fully-loaded CET 1  capital ratio of 12.2%, which has increased by 20 basis points since the end of last year and 31 basis points since March 2022. This level of capital is also almost five points above the regulatory requirement, 7.73%. The total capital ratio stands at 16.3%, 111 basis points above the ratio at the end of the first quarter of 2022.

Por último, Bankinter cuenta con una ratio de capital principal, CET 1 fully loaded, del 12,2%, que ha aumentado en 20 puntos básicos desde el cierre del pasado ejercicio y 31 puntos básicos desde marzo de 2022. Este nivel de capital se sitúa, además, casi cinco puntos por encima del requerimiento regulatorio, que se sitúa en el 7,73%. La ratio de capital total se sitúa en el 16,3%, 111 puntos básicos por encima de la registrada al cierre del primer trimestre de 2022.
