Bankinter raises to 2.50% AER the return on its Digital Account for new customers
The Bank offers this interest rate from the very first euro and for all balances up to a maximum of 100,000 euros, compared to the previous cap of 50,000 euros.
The Bank is keen to consolidate this account as an alternative to traditional deposits.
The account can be opened in the app and on the website until 15 June.
Bankinter has strengthened its digital savings offering. The Bank has just increased the return on its Digital Account from 2% AER to 2.50% AER, an improvement that will be available for new accounts opened from today until 15 June.
The offer is targeted at new customers and represents a significant savings option in the current competitive environment, in which the Bank is prioritising this alternative over traditional deposits for savers.
One of the advantages of the Digital Account is that, unlike traditional deposits, customers can access their funds at all times and withdrawals do not incur any penalty or loss of profitability for as long as the balance remains in the account.
The 2.50% AER applies, without intermediate tiers, to any balance up to €100,000. The Bank has decided to increase the maximum amount eligible for interest from €50,000 in the previous offer, which expired yesterday, to the current €100,000, in order to attract more potential customers. In March, Bankinter eliminated all intermediate interest-bearing tiers in the Digital Account, so any amount below €100,000 yields this interest.
Interest
Interest is paid monthly, providing savers with earnings on a regular basis. For example, with €50,000 in the account, the gross annual interest would be €1,235, at 2.50% AER calculated for one year. This would mean a monthly interest payment of €102.91, or double that in the case of a maintained balance of €100,000, which is the maximum. For a balance of €10,000, the annual gross return would be €247, or €20.58 per month. This interest rate is guaranteed until 31 December 2026, after which the rate applicable at the time will be paid, based on any changes in the official interest rates.
The Digital Account can only be opened via Bankinter’s digital channels, both on the website and in the app, and there is no maintenance fee and no requirements such as the deposit of a salary or payment of bills through direct debits.
The account comes with a free debit card, with no issuance or maintenance fees, allowing customers to withdraw cash at no cost from over 17,000 ATMs in Spain, thanks to Bankinter's agreements with different networks and financial institutions.
With this latest increase in the return, Bankinter continues to strengthen its Digital Account as one of its main acquisition strategies and, at the same time, to reinforce the Bank's digitalisation.
