The past year was a difficult one for the equity business, due to its continued volatility and the general market downturn.
Investors were less active than during the previous two years, resulting in a decline in buying and selling activity, especially in international trading.
Nevertheless, the equity income statement remained at very high levels, at over 63 million euro. Of note was the increase in activity in exchange traded funds (ETFs), in credit trading and in custody revenues.
Despite the volatility, the portfolio remained stable compared to 2021, at 21.654 billion euro.
Milestones for 2022 include an enrichment in the offer of ETFs, and the drive to provide training on this range of products through the digital platform Broker Academy Bankinter.
