For Bankinter, management of its relationships with customers, employees and the society in which it performs its activity is a core commitment in its social responsibility. The areas for action established in the 3D Plan were a commitment to excellent service, maintaining quality employment, accessibility and financial inclusion, and social investment.
The main milestones in this area included:
Financial inclusion
Human rights
Advanced people management
Innovation Foundation
Volunteering
Citizenship
Bankinter continues to develop its inclusion plan 'A bank for everyone', with the aim of making its corporate channels more accessible, taking into account the needs of people with disabilities and the elderly in particular.
In terms of physical accessibility, the Bank works under the standards of the UNE 170001 universal accessibility standard, which certifies that its facilities are accessible for anyone with a disability, whether employees or customers. This certification was renewed in 2023 and its scope was expanded as part of the 3D Plan.
The Bank is continuing to work to make digital accessibility a reality in all its channels, both on its websites and in its mobile apps, navigable documents and transactional elements. This effort was recognised by the Ilunion Group in 2022, which awarded its accessibility seal to the bank's mobile app, as it facilitates access and usability for all customers, irrespective of whether they have a disability.
A signature card and a Bizum system for the visually impaired have been developed, and work has been done to make document content more accessible, as well as to make it easier to navigate within documents and read them. The Bank has also made its video and podcast content more easily accessible through the use of adapted keypad technology and financial graphics with spoken navigation and interpretation, and high-contrast colour options.
Bankinter is firmly committed to the dissemination of basic financial knowledge through financial education programmes targeted at different groups. It offers digital financial training platforms, such as Money Town, which is aimed at secondary school and further education students (over 30,000 students at the end of the 3D plan) and Game of Traders, which is aimed at university students and has had more than 5,500 participants. In 2023, the bank sought to expand its focus on financial education to the elderly, developing financial training workshops and digital banking tools.
Bankinter's commitment to quality employment has been recognised through Top Employer Spain certification, recognition that has been renewed annually over recent years. This prestigious network recognises companies that are outstanding because of their work environments, attraction and development of talent, well-being, and diversity and inclusion.
The Bank has retained its family responsible company certificate, which is bestowed by the Másfamilia Foundation on companies that have implemented initiatives to improve work-life balance and promote equal opportunities among employees.
Among the initiatives to promote employee well-being, the entity continues to implement the inclusive and personalised 'Bankinter Te Cuida' (Bankinter, here to help) programme to train and educate employees about the importance of caring for their health.
Bankinter was recognised by the National Institute of Health and Safety at Work (INSST) in 2023 for its good business practices, as a result of this and other programmes related to health and safety.
In 2022, the bank approved a Social Action Strategy that includes its framework for action in this area. This sets out the social and environmental activities on which the Bank focuses, such as the socio-labour integration of vulnerable groups, financial integration and the preservation and protection of the environment.
Bankinter uses the internationally recognised LBG (London Business Group) methodology to measure, manage, evaluate and communicate the contributions, achievements and impacts of its social action. In 2023, the Group allocated more than 3.6 million euros to social responsibility initiatives, according to calculations based on this methodology.
In 2023, 20% of employees took part in 'Mueve.te' corporate volunteering programmes, which are implemented through events that have a positive impact on society and the environment.
