The Retail Banking area continued developing its service strategy in 2023, enabling a very positive increase in the quality perceived by our customers. As a result, there was significant growth in gross operating income, active customers and assets under management during the year.
The number of customers increased to 867,104, up 6.4% on the previous year. This increase was mainly due to the 117,467 customers onboarded (19.4% more) and linkage to the salary account. The assets of Retail Banking customers increased by 9.5% compared to 2022, to 45,571 million euros.
Continuing the bank's commitment to innovation, we launched the Dual mortgage in 2023. This is a unique and innovative product that lets customers decide what portion of their loan will be at a variable-interest rate and what portion will be fixed rate when they arrange the mortgage.
