Despite the difficult economic and geopolitical environment, the average lending of the International Banking business reached 8,813 million euros, an increase of 10.8%, compared to 24.7% in the previous year. During the year, there was significant growth in the number of simple international payments and collections brokered (+5.45%) and an improvement in the share of documentary credit for both imports (11.8%) and exports (5.8%). The gross operating income of the area was 405.9 million euros (+53.0%), contributing 33.38% to the total gross operating income of Corporate Banking.
For 2024, International Banking is committed to the Supply Chain Finance tool, which advances payment of invoices and guarantees payment obligations to international suppliers, in euros or other convertible currencies. Support for direct foreign investment by Spanish and Portuguese companies is complemented by a highly specialised service for the issuance of international bank guarantees.
In 2023, Bankinter joined FCI (Factor Chain International), a network of correspondents through whose members 65% of global factoring takes place, offering secure payment options for customers in almost a hundred countries on five continents.
