Sustainability
Over the past decade, Bankinter has demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability by integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria into its corporate strategy. The lines of action in this strategy are structured around sustainability plans.
1. ESG: Environmental, Social and Governance
4 SDGs: Sustainable Development Goals
2 CSRD: Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
3 ESRS: European Sustainability Reporting Standards
4 SDGs: Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainability Policy, updated in 2025, is deployed through the Sustainability DNA (ADN in Spanish) Plan 2024-2026, whose priorities are supported by the results of the double materiality analysis.
Performance in 2025: progress in the 3 strategic pillars
A for responsible Action. Update of the double materiality analysis and the main sustainability and ESG risk policies, along with a comprehensive internal training plan for its staff and the strengthening of the supervision of these aspects in its Internal Audit plans.
D for Differentiation. The bank maintains its certifications as a healthy company and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, as well as its certification for universal accessibility management under the UNE 170001 standard. Furthermore, it has continued to promote financial literacy through various programmes, physical accessibility in corporate buildings and employee well-being. Additionally, a global customer service protocol has been created and the net promotor score (NPS) has continued to improve. Strategic Pillars – Sustainable A
N for sustainable business ("negocio sostenible" in Spanish). Bankinter has placed a strong focus on developing business with ESG criteria through the launch of new products for companies (CAE advance loan) and individuals (eco-renovation loan and energy efficiency simulator), distribution agreements for sustainable mobility and self-consumption, advisory services in decarbonisation, as well as the structuring and coordination of green and sustainable bonds.
