Territorial
Organisation
of Andalusia
Origins and history
The Territorial Organisation of Andalusia emerged as part of Bankinter’s expansion process, kicking off a period of growth that led to the opening of branch offices in Málaga and Seville in 1980, followed by Córdoba and Granada in 1981.
During the 1980s, the Bank accelerated its expansion on the Costa del Sol, leveraging the tourist boom, reaching more than 40 branch offices throughout Spain, of which 25 were in Málaga, many of them focused on business with foreigners.
In 1990, the Andalusia and Extremadura Organisation was formally created, led by Juan Arenado, with headquarters in Seville. Key Services such as Risk, Operations and Legal Counsel were centralised, and the business was segmented into Wealth Management & Retail Banking and Corporate & SME Banking.
In 1992, following Arenado's departure, the organisation was divided into Eastern Andalusia and Western Andalusia together with Extremadura.
In 1995, they were unified again, with Extremadura being transferred to CLME, thus consolidating the Territorial Organisation of Andalusia. Specialised areas such as Stock Market, Insurance, Virtual Banking and Agency Network were developed, with leaders appointed for each segment. These changes occurred against the background of an economic crisis, highlighting the team's adaptability.
The Organisation is currently headed by Olga Díaz, who has held the role since 2024.
