Bankinter solidifies its position as one of the world's most sustainable banks after being selected once again as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index

The bank will be listed for the fourth consecutive year in the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index – both in that of Europe and that of the world – an acknowledgement of Bankinter's global management of its environmental, social and governance practices.

Bankinter has kept its place among the companies listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI), making it the fourth straight year that the bank has been included in the most internationally renowned sustainability index.

By once again making the cut, Bankinter has achieved further recognition of its sustainability policy, which it has gradually implemented through a series of plans in recent years.

Pedro Guerrero, chairman of Bankinter and chairman of the bank's sustainability committee, said that 'continuing to be listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is, of course, a great recognition of our performance guided by environmental, social and governance criteria, known as ESG, but it also encourages us as a bank to keep on the path to sustainability that we have been following for years. We will persevere in our efforts to make further progress and to be a bank that contributes to sustainable and inclusive development.'

Bankinter takes its place in the DJSI, among the world's top 24 banks with the best integrated management in ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) criteria. The ranking was published last night by S&P Dow Jones Indices after analysing a total of 242 international financial institutions.

Bankinter obtained the highest score possible in the areas of customer relationship management and environmental and social reporting, also standing out in the areas of talent attraction and retention, labour practices, human capital development, tax strategy and privacy protection.

The bank will remain part of the European Dow Jones Sustainability Index, where it is ranked among the nine best banks for sustainable management. It has been included in this index since 2017.

For Bankinter, remaining in these stock market indices is essential because it represents recognition of the efforts of all the professionals who comprise the Bank, as sustainability is a strategic priority and is becoming an increasingly transversal part of the organisation. Management is carried out under rigorous standards of excellence that include performance in all three areas: environmental, social and governance. The bank is currently developing the 2021-2023 Sustainability Plan, known as 3D because of its focus on these three pillars.
