Bankinter has launched a package of measures to help cushion the damage caused by the flash floods in Valencia. The Bank will offer both individuals and corporate customers three-month payment holidays on their mortgages and consumer loans. This period may be extended if necessary. Over the next nine months, customers would only pay the interest part of their mortgage or loan instalments.
As soon as possible, it will also offer access to financing backed by the ICO credit facility that has been approved by the Council of Ministers. This facility will be open to both corporates and families to repair or rebuild damaged property.
Last week, the Bank activated free cash withdrawals from cashpoints in the affected areas and launched solidarity accounts and Bizum transfers to channel donations from customers to the NGOs with which it collaborates: Red Cross, Caritas, OXFAM and the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (Fesbal).
Bankinter will also offer specific advice to customers who have a taken out a policy through the Bank with one the insurance companies with which it has a broker agreement, in order to speed up the claims process with the insurers.
Meanwhile, it is maintaining the advance payment of pensions that was established during the pandemic and which the Bank decided to extend.
In addition, starting today the Bank will launch an automatic distributor in its telephone banking service to channel calls from customers affected by the floods to a specific group of managers in order to ensure preferential and priority handling of their enquiries and provide them with a dedicated channel to speed up their transactions and other procedures.
Support for corporate customers
The Bank will also speed up financial support operations for corporates through prior sanctions for such operations, and it will increase the credit facilities offered by Mutual Guarantee Societies (SGRs).
Affected Bankinter employees will be able to access free financing for the repair of damaged goods.
The aim of these measures launched by the Bank is to help to reduce the impact of this disaster that has devastated a large area of the province of Valencia and affected smaller areas of Barcelona, Tarragona and Cádiz.
