Bankinter's International Large-corporate Banking Business achieves a record 10,000 million euros in managed assets
This is 17% higher than the first half of 2023.
The bank's supply chain finance business - in which it is a leader - has quadrupled compared to June last year, to 268 million euros.
Off-balance sheet assets (guarantees and letters of credit) amount to 2,200 million euros.
Bankinter reaches a new milestone in its international Large-corporate Banking business. The company ended the first half of the year with 9,800 million euros in assets under management in this activity, a 17% year-on-year increase.
Bankinter started promoting this activity in 2014, and the business has multiplied fivefold from the total risks of 2,000 million euros at that time.
These figures include lending of more than 9,800 million euros and off-balance-sheet assets (mainly guarantees and letters of credit) amounting to 2,200 million euros.
The supply chain finance business, in which the bank is one of the leaders in Spain's financial system, totalled 268 million euros, a fourfold increase in this activity compared to the first half of 2023.
International Business is the area responsible for promoting the international activity of Bankinter's corporate customers, both in terms of their expansion to and growth in other countries, and for exports and imports. It uses the world's most sophisticated trade finance, structured finance and export finance tools, providing tailor-made solutions with high added value for its customers. It is also a core pillar of Large-corporate Banking.
Main sectors.
A significant part of this lending is invested in financing the international activity of Spanish companies in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. The priority areas the bank has focussed on include the automotive, technology, food and drink, capital goods, energy and telecoms sectors.
Revenues from this line of international banking currently represent over 36% of the gross operating income of Bankinter's Large-corporate Banking business, compared to 14% in 2014, multiplying its relative weight in the segment by 2.5 times during this period. One in four of Bankinter's corporate customers entrust their international operations to the bank.
Bankinter has achieved unprecedented figures for this activity, in which it has strengthened its position as one of the main players over the last decade.
