Bankinter launches a tool to offer more than 70 funds that invest in 6 future megatrends

The bank is creating a specific area on its website for investors who are interested in investment funds focussing on disruptive trends.

This section identifies the following trends: climate change, demographic and social change, infrastructure, technological advancement and others, including raw materials.

The tool was originally created under the auspices of Private Banking, in collaboration with Bankinter Wealth Management, as a training forum for bankers, but is now available to investors in order to provide knowledge about megatrends.

All investors who are interested in megatrend investment funds can now find a special area on the Bankinter website which provides information and investment options. In the investment-fund world, "megatrends" are any trends that can cause technological, social or environmental disruptions.

The bank has noticed that, in recent years, there has been greater interest from its investment customers, especially customers with high wealth profiles within the Private Banking segment, in focussing part of their investments on these new trends. These are investors with a more sophisticated profile looking to gain early entry to sectors that are bound to have future growth potential.

With this in mind, Bankinter has created an exclusive area on its website, within the investment funds area, which contains all of the information about six megatrends that the bank has identified. Each of them includes several themes, as set out below:

  • Infrastructure (with the themes of Smart Cities, Transport and Infrastructure). Link to the area and the video.

  • Health (Nutrition, Wellness, Medical Technology, Healthcare, Biotechnology and Oncology). Link to the area and the video.

  • Demographic and Social Change (Aging, Millennials, Education and China). Link to the area and the video.

  • Climate Change (Water, Hydrogen, Energy Transition, Climate Change and the Circular Economy). Link to the area and the video.

  • Technological Advancement (IT Security, New Technologies, Aerospace Advancement, Big Data and Technological Disruption). Link to the area and the video.

  • Other Trends (Value, Quality/Pricing, Raw Materials and Consumption). Link to the area.

In each of the themes for each megatrend, the bank offers a number of funds as thematic investment options. In total, a specific range of more than 70 funds are available, from more than 30 prestigious international managers, as is typical within its open architecture system which it pioneered more than a decade ago.

Bankinter's own funds are also included, such as the Bankinter Metaverso by EDR fund, the first to invest in this theme on the Spanish market, which the bank launched in June with the renowned Edmond de Rothschild manager.

The megatrend-tool project started life in Private Banking, devised as an internal training forum for bankers, agents and investment-fund managers, focussing on investment developments in the different disruptive themes on the market. Bankinter Asset Management has played a vital role in helping to identify the 6 trends, the 27 themes and the selection of funds for each of them.

As a result, an area has been created which sets outs each of the megatrends, their origin, their possibilities and the different themes, with further information provided in explanatory videos for each of them.

Now that it has been built, the bank has decided to open this training section to investors and customers in order to disseminate knowledge about this investment trend.

It is a dynamic area, where new themes and investment offerings will be added over time.
