Saving for your childrens' future

Surely as a child you had an account or a savings account. Normally, concern for the future of children is something common to all generations. However, as yesterday is not today, interest rates are not what they were. It is no longer enough to open a card and wait for the grandparents' gift, we need to look for new formulas

When and how to start investing

That is the formula that we propose, to invest, the one that we recommend but it is also the markets' situation. Think about what you can buy today with €50 and what you can buy in 18 years with that same money. This, not another, is the reason.

The sooner you start, the better

Diapers, baby food, pediatricians... You might think that this is not the time to take another item out of your budget. But, if you start early, it does not matter that the amount is symbolic, even if it is very small, you will have already generated a habit, almost without realising it.

You have a lot of time, you can do it little by little

The good thing about starting as soon as possible is that you will have a long time ahead of you and you can do it with much less effort. You can reinvest the potential benefits that you generate, like an ant

Minimise the risk

When the project of investing is long-term, it is important that you think about combining two factors. During the initial phase, it is advisable to seek a higher return even if the exposure to risk is greater and, as the moment when you need to recover the investment approaches, to consider more conservative options.

And, now, the big question: Where to invest?

Investment funds are an ideal product1. And now you will say “Funds again?”. Well, yes. When you plan to build capital over the long term, investment funds are perhaps one of the most suitable instruments, which is why you will see them recommended here and there again and again:

  • They are easy to choose and purchase, you do not need to have significant financial understanding.
  • All profiles can be accomodated, from the most conservative to the most aggressive, although they can lead to a loss of invested capital.
  • You can make periodic contributions with very small amounts, from €10.
  • You can combine various funds and you can change funds at no cost and without tax charges2.
  • You do not pay taxes until you withdraw the investment2.

If you are thinking about your future, then certainly you are thinking about going to college.

For parents, it is one of the biggest worries, one of the biggest reasons to have future capital available. As a result of the implementation of the “Plan Bolonia”, the options, specialisation and the offer provided by the university market have increased notably and, with it, the budget to be allocated to this fundamental, probably the most important, chapter.

If it's for them, count on them.

Fundamental. If you're thinking of their education, you also need to think of educating them about the value of things, about the true value of money. And the best way to do that is to involve them. It's important for them to understand that life comes with costs, and with unforeseen events that they need to be prepared for. Take advantage now, while they are still “sponges”, to teach them the habit of saving.

5% Plan

A Bankinter idea for easily starting to invest

Every month that a minimum of €50 is contributed to an investment fund1 from a Bk Joven or3 Bk Mini account3, a monthy bonus will be received: 5% per year (the first year) and 2% per year (the second year) of the accumulated balance in the investment fund, up to a maximum of €1,000. See conditions4.
